Old television systems satisfied couch potatoes for long time while technologies didn¹t change, but in the future, the way to enjoy home entertainment will be changing to take advantage of the new technology that has recently surfaced along with those on the horizon. People want to root for their local baseball team by watching a live game on TV during their business trips, immigrants want to enjoy their favorite TV programs from their home countries regardless of different time zones, or travelers want to from their home videos to show their friends on their laptop computers by transferring them from the PC in their homes. Recent technologies already allow some of these features with more promised in the future.
Keizai Society has invited top technology companies from and asked them to present their current technologies including a demonstration. Using their different perspectives, they will address what they see as the future trend of home entertainment. Panel Biography
Micah Stroud is a Division Marketing Manager at AMD, which builds transformational processing platforms including CPUs, GPUs and consumer electronics technology. He represents the Digital Media consumer group which focuses on open innovation and customer-centric solutions for home entertainment PCs and consumer electronics. Micah has worked in both the hardware and software industries for more than 12 years with a number of companies responsible for building the digital media experience.
Mr. Stroud graduated from Oklahoma State University with a B.S. in Broadcast Journalism. He is an avid gaming and technology enthusiast and is passionate about creating consumer products and digital media ecosystems.
Ken Welch is the Director of Addressability & Digital Services for Comcast serving the California Region, and has worked at Comcast for 18 years, beginning as a Service Technician and Field Engineer prior to his current role. Ken’s responsibility includes the Comcast Digital Set Top Terminal’s, Video Controllers and Video On Demand platforms. He has a BS degree from Florida State University in Computer Sciences. Ken is an active member in the Society of Telecommunication Engineers, the Rotary Club, Advanced Amateur Radio Operator and an Eagle Scout.
