Dr. Adriaan Ligtenberg, co-founder and Partner of Pacific Technology Partners, discusses opportunities and challenges of technology buy-outs in Japan. Although Japan’s technology industries are very strong, so far Japan lacks strong technology buy-out firms. A session in our weekly series, presented by Stanford’s US-Asia Technology Management Center, with co-sponsorship of this session by the Keizai Society US-Japan Business Forum and the Stanford Project on Japanese Entrepreneurship (STAJE).
Adriaan Ligtenberg is a founder of Pacific Technology Partners. PTP is one of the first technology buyout firms focused on leveraged buyouts of Japanese technology companies in collaboration with other Private Equity Funds. Local Partnership funds are Advantage Partners, Carlyle Japan, Integrity Partners, J-Star, Next Capital, Nippon Mirai and Riverside Asia. Before PTP, he was a succesful serial enterprenuer, private investor and strategic consultant. He started his professional career in Bell Labs as head of the image system group. He has a PH.D in computer Science from Ecole Poly Technique de Lausanne.
